This is a nature-based therapeutic group for first-time BIPOC birthers with babies under 12 months. The intention of this group is to create a safe space for new parents to find deeper understanding and meaning of the postpartum period through a variety of group-based and self-reflective nature activities. If you are looking to find rest, reconnection, and rejuvenation with nature and community, this group is for you.
Sessions will take place outdoors for the entire duration. Participants should feel comfortable in the outdoors and be prepared to engage in nature-based activities in a public park setting. Please come prepared for all kinds of weather.
Babies are welcome in the group if participants feel comfortable holding or wearing baby during the session. Please note, this is not a baby play group; it is a nature-therapy group that welcomes babies in the session.
The group is facilitated by Sarina Piercy (she/her), a postpartum doula and counsellor (RSW). Sarina identifies as a mixed-race parent of two. As someone whose own postpartum experience was marked by incredible highs and lows, identity challenges, and grief, Sarina brings a balance of lived and professional experiences to her facilitation style.
